Homes and Residences

Ghent University lets over 2,.800 furnished living units to the entire university community. As demand exceeds supply, priority rules and delineated lease terms are defined for the different types of accommodation.
Our housing units are reserved for certain categories of applicants. Depending on your affiliation, the duration and your application in OASIS, you will only find the contingents of living units available to you.
- For exchange & enrolment (admission) programs, we make a distinction between stays for a full semester and stays for a full academic year stays (12 months, September till September).
- For a number of exchange programs (agreed by both home university and UGent) short term stays (half a month up to 12 months) are available.
- For PhD students, stays are possible from half a month up to 12 months, with the possibility to reapply.
The rental price depends on your type of enrolment, the duration of your stay and the type of living unit.
To apply for housing, you first have to follow the appropriate Ghent University enrolment procedure: after the completion of your digital pre-enrolment on OASIS, you can register for accommodation using the same procedure.
These rental prices do not include the student housing tax imposed by the city of Ghent from January 2027 onwards. This tax is in addition to the rental prices of our Housing Office below. This student accommodation tax will be mentioned on the contract and will be stated in the monthly invoice.
The student accommodation tax in AY 2026-2027 amounts to
- 5,50 EUR / month for a standard room
- 11,80 EUR / month for a room plus, comfort room, studio, or flat
