Ghent University Halls of Residence

Ghent University has over 2.400 living units available for the entire university community. Only if you have an affiliation with Ghent University, a living unit can be assigned.

There are living units for the following enrollment types: degree-seeking students, exchange students, Ph.D. students, staff, and visitors. Depending on your enrollment type, you can apply for a selected range of living units, regardless of your nationality or other specification. The price of the accommodation depends on the duration of your stay and of course the type of living unit.

To apply for housing, you first have to follow the relevant Ghent University enrolment procedure: after you have completed this digital pre-enrolment, housing can be requested in the same procedure.

• Location: site Kantienberg (Ghent) 

Please note there are no differences between the units or buildings Groningen, Uppsala, Göttingen, and Canterbury.
These are all part of one complex and connected to each other with a walking bridge on the first floor.

Other options

If staying in the University Halls of Residence is not your ‘cup of tea’, if you are not eligible, or if they are fully booked, you can look for a suitable living unit on the private rented market.
The search for a comfortable and safe living unit on the private rented market is quite challenging and will take time and effort. Especially if you are looking for a room for the first semester. In the second semester, the housing market is much more relaxed and there are much more options. But we are happy to provide you with tips and tricks to make your search as comfortable as possible.
