First enrolment for a predoctoral programme, the doctorate and the Doctoral Training Programme

  • All this information is also applicable to Joint PhD
  • Do not forget to re-enrol every year until your doctoral defense has taken place.

Enrolment procedure

The Registrar's Office handles your enrolment as a (pre-) doctoral student:

  • There is no defined enrolment period for these programme (i.e. you don't have to enrol before the start of the academic year as opposed to the 'regular' programmes)
  • Be sure to bring the following documents:
    • Letter of Admission (official letter signed by the Registrar), if you have been accepted on the basis of a non-BENELUX diploma
    • International passport or Belgian resident permit
    • If mentioned on your letter of admission
      • A legalised copy of the diploma on the basis of which you have been granted admission
      • proof of language proficiency
      • Chinese students: an original APS certificate
      • Chinese CSC-scholarship students: tuition voucher
      • proof of scholarship

Predoctoral programme

If, as a result of your application procedure, the Faculty Board has decided that you are required to successfully complete a predoctoral training programme, you have to submit the following form:

You have to submit the following form:

Doctoral Training Programme

You will automatically be enrolled for the Doctoral Training Programme. In some faculties, this programme may even be mandatory. On successful completion you will receive a certificate (after the doctoral defense has taken place).
