Ghent University Postdoc Community

Ghent University Postdoc Community is the inclusive community of and for all postdoctoral researchers at Ghent University.

The Postdoc Community is supported by the Career Development Office and its Postdoc Talent Management programme.

Our Aims

  • To create awareness and provide support for proactively developing your own career path
  • To connect you to other postdocs in order to build your network for now and in the future, within and outside academia

In addition, the Postdoc Community is acting as a resonance group on career issues and perspectives of postdoctoral researchers.

Award an appreciation to a postdoc

Show a postdoc how much you appreciate his or her effort, commitment and contributions!

The postdoc community launched “Postdoc appreciation certificate” as an easy way to give a thoughtful, positive recognition to one (or more) of your postdoc co-workers.

Any staff member can submit an appreciation to a postdoc here

Stress and well-being in the postdoc life: information and tools for prevention and improving awareness

Being a postdoc is a very rewarding and challenging job, but we are also subjected to some extra stress factors, such as a large and varied workload, job insecurity and the constant pressure to obtain funding. This event therefore aims to:

  • raise more awareness of the stress you may experience in your postdoc job;
  • give you insights on the impact of stress on our brain and how to handle it;
  • offer some practical tips and tricks to improve your professional wellbeing;
  • offer a wide range of tools on who to look for within the UGent when something is going on.

We will close the event with a hands-on session of chair yoga to tackle physical pain and mental discomfort.
