The Corporate Reporting and Assurance Group within the Department of Accounting, Corporate Finance, and Taxation at Ghent University invites applications for a fully funded Ph.D. in Business Economics.

YOUR TASKS

The position is part of a new research project funded by the Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO) on the economic consequences of sustainability reporting regulation. The successful candidate will conduct research within the project with the aim of obtaining a doctoral degree.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for candidates who:

  • hold a master's degree in economics, business economics, business engineering, complementary studies in business economics, or an equivalent degree (by September 2026).
  • have excellent academic qualifications at both the bachelor’s and master’s levels.
  • demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • possess effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • are proficient in English.
  • are prepared to work in Ghent (Belgium).

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer a full-time position as a doctoral fellow, consisting of an initial period of 12 months, which - after a positive evaluation, will be extended to a total maximum of 48 months.
  • The Department of Accounting, Corporate Finance, and Taxation offers a dynamic, stimulating and pleasant working environment. The student will be able to further develop skills through additional Ph.D. courses, seminars and international conferences.
  • The contract can start as of September 1, 2026 (or earlier)
  • The fellowship amount is 100% of the net salary of an AAP member in equal family circumstances. The individual fellowship amount is determined by Team Personnel Administration based on family status and seniority. A grant that meets the conditions and criteria of the regulations for doctoral fellowships is considered free of personal income tax. Click here for more information about our salary scales
