International Support Team
The International Support Team (IST) is part of the International Relations office of Ghent University located in Korte Meer 9, 9000 Gent. We are a team of 6 university staff members: Karen, Benedicte, Greet, Maaike, Joke and Rachida (temporarily absent).
What we do
- Being students first point of contact for help and guidance regarding a range of administrative and wellbeing issues and offering advice and support. If necessary, we direct international students to other Ghent University departments they might need
- Answering questions and concerns of incoming and outgoing exchange students and guiding them through our application procedures
- Drawing up the inter-institutional agreements with partner institutions
- Helping students (bachelor or master degree) who need to prove sufficient means of subsistence in the framework of their visa or residence permit application
- Guiding staff members or students who participate in the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility programme through the process
- Arranging exemption of the APS certificate for Chinese students
- Organizing arrival and welcome activities at the start of each semester

- Academic matters (courses, exams, transcript of records, faculty regulations, etc.) Therefore you can contact our colleagues working at the international offices of the faculties or the support office of your international programme
- Bachelor and master programme admissions. Please visit the Registrar’s office website for all matters concerning admission and enrolment for bachelor and master degrees
